364 days a year I sing Alice and Wonderlands “Very Merry Unbirthdayโ€ฆto me”
Ever since I was a child I have loved my birthday more then anyone I know. I start the count down Jan 1 but really go crazy April 1 and by tax day (4/15) I am in full blown “it’s my birthday in 14 DAYS countdown!!!!” Even many checkers at my local Costco know it’s my birthday because I pretty much announce it all the time. In early grade school it was all about planning my birthday party with that years theme and what I wanted mom to make for my birthday breakfast, dinner and cake. After mom took cake decorating classes, I always asked her to make me a “Barbie” cake every YEAR!!! I think my last one was 6th grade maybe 7thโ€ฆmom always let me choose the color of dress and flavor of cake. oohhhh how I loved those cakes, in fact I should have one made for my 50th!!! My teen years became all about a special jewelry gift and where I wanted eat, I chose Benihana every-time. Sashimi appetizer with “surf n turf” lobster and steak. My parents were divorced by then and I got 2 BIRTHDAYS!! My father actually took me out drinking for my 21st birthday and it was one of the greatest memories ever because instead of being the strict father he was the cool dad. Mom and I went to Vegas for my 23rd and by the end of the trip everyone knew my mom as “Heathers Mom” such great memories I still have of all my birthdays. My late 20s were like bachelorette party’s and my 30s were amazing BnBs, cruises and trips. My 40s have been more low key But are still very much a big deal. Hubby actually surprised me with an iPad a few years ago and I NEVER PUT IT DOWN!! I love it so much it is actually known around the house as “the baby” One thing I never gave up and never gets old is my tradition of SUSHI. My birthday sushi dinner ALWAYS from age 20ish to now. Must ALWAYS BE FOLLOWED by champagne and yes I still do TEQUILA shots!!! Birthday cakes are still on the list but many times are now made by me. I choose to make them now because they just taste so much BETTER, have high quality ingredients and don’t cost $60 to $100. This year will be a carrot cake and yes I will post my recipe oxox. I have two years left to plan my big half a century bash and I promise I can out drink and dance any 20 something year old because I’ve had lots of practice.

My sage advice, Celebrate everyday but make your Birthday extra special!! ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿฐ

because you only get to be that age for 365 short days.
